However, that growth is slowing down and one of the reasons is that we simply do\u00a0<\/em><em>not have enough people for all the roles that are out there at the moment. And the number of vacancies is still getting higher.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>For jobseekers this is good news as employers are willing to pay higher starting wages to attract the right candidates.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EU workers are leaving because of the uncertainties they are facing right now\u00a0so\u00a0the situation may well get worse and employers will face even more staff shortages.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Appointments\/Vacancies&#8230;<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>A strong underlying demand for permanent workers has created the continued growth in recruitment. However,\u00a0shortage of suitable candidates and concerns over<br \/>\nthe UK economic outlook has been detrimental to the overall pace of expansion.<\/p>\n<p>This trend occurred throughout all of England; however permanent job vacancies in the South of England continued to increase at a faster rate than the national average.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Increased Demand in Workers Juxtaposed with Declined Availability of Workers&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Since October 2016 to October 2017 there has been an increased demand in workers across all sectors, in particular:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accounting\/Financial &#8211; increase of 9.1%<\/li>\n<li>IT &amp; Computing &#8211; increase of 4.1%<\/li>\n<li>Engineering &#8211; increase of 3.3%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The problem is compounded by the lack of availability of workers throughout the UK.\u00a0The sharpest drop in permanent candidate availability continued to be seen in the South of England.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/www.recruitment-connection.co.uk\/index.php\/2017\/11\/decline-in-availability-of-candidates-and-increased-starting-salaries\/doc-2-2\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1040\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1040 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recruitment-connection.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/doc-2-2-300x168.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.recruitment-connection.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/doc-2-2-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/www.recruitment-connection.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/doc-2-2-768x431.png 768w, https:\/\/www.recruitment-connection.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/doc-2-2.png 807w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Pay Pressures&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Starting salaries for people placed in permanent jobs has increased further.<\/p>\n<p>The rate of pay inflation has also quickened throughout the UK and was the second-strongest recorded since November 2015. The steepest increase in rate of pay inflation was in the South of England.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.recruitment-connection.co.uk\/index.php\/2017\/11\/decline-in-availability-of-candidates-and-increased-starting-salaries\/doc-3-2\/#main\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1041\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"290\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1041 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.recruitment-connection.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/doc-3-2-300x290.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.recruitment-connection.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/doc-3-2-300x290.png 300w, https:\/\/www.recruitment-connection.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/doc-3-2.png 722w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Earnings and Inflation&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Average weekly earnings have continued to increase but at a slower pace than living costs. Higher fuel and food costs have been key culprits in the inflation.
